What qualifies in
Nevada as a renewable energy system?
A renewable energy system is any facility or system that uses biomass, geothermal
energy, solar energy, waterpower, or wind to generate electricity. To begin earning
PCs in Nevada, you must first register an account and submit an application for
your facility to be registered as a renewable energy system.

|
Who approves the
certification of renewable energy systems and PCs?
The PC Administrator.

|
|
How often are PCs
issued?
PCs are issued on a quarterly basis. Renewable energy providers who wish to have
their renewable energy certified must submit quarterly metered data to the PC Administrator
no later than 30 days after the end of each quarter.

|
How are PCs calculated?
Generally, one PC will represent one kWh of renewable energy generated. However,
one kWh of renewable energy generated by solar photovoltaic will represent 2.40
PCs. Also, renewable energy generated from a distributed generation system will
receive 1.05 PCs. If a facility is both a solar photovoltaic facility and a distributed
generation system, the facility will receive 2.45 PCs for every kWh of energy generated.

|
What is the lifespan
of PCs?
PCs will expire four years after the compliance year in which the credits are issued.

How can I become
a registered user in NVTREC?
If you wish to become a registered user, you must complete an application for an
account in the system. The application can be completed by clicking the appropriate
link on the NVTREC homepage. Once you submit the completed application, the PC Administrator
will review and approve (or disapprove) your application. If your application is
approved, you will receive a notification e-mail and then be able to login to the
system. Otherwise, you will receive an e-mail notification stating that your application
has been disapproved.

|
Does my renewable
energy system qualify to be tracked in NVTREC?
Currently, NVTREC only tracks facilities that are larger than 150 kW. If it does
not meet this requirement, you are encouraged to sign up for your local utility’s
net metering program if you have not done so already.

|
How can I register
my renewable energy system?
Once you are approved for an account, you can login to the system and click the
appropriate link to register your facility. Your application and facility will then
be reviewed by the PC Administrator and upon approval, will be assigned a facility
ID. You will receive a notification e-mail.

How does NVTREC
retrieve my facility’s metered data history for certification?
If your facility is metered by either Nevada Power Company or Sierra Pacific Power
Company and if you have entered the correct premise ID in your facility application,
you can retrieve your facility’s recent metered data history through the NVTREC
interface in your account page. Once retrieved, you can submit the data to the PC
Administrator for certification.
If your facility is not metered by Nevada Power Company or Sierra Pacific Power
Company, then you will need to input your facility’s metered data using the interface
accessed through the “Facility Metered Data Input” link and submit the information
to the PUCN at the end of every quarter.
Once submitted, the PC Administrator will review the metered data and either approve
or disapprove its certification. Once approved, your new balance of PCs will be
reflected in your account summary page. You will then be able to keep, transfer
or retire these credits as you please.

|
What if my facility
is net metered by Nevada Power Company (or Sierra Pacific Power Company) but not
gross metered?
If your facility is only net metered by Nevada Power Company (or Sierra Pacific
Power Company), then you must enter your gross metered data at the end of every
quarter and submit the data to the PC Administrator for review of any station usage/parasitic
load that you may receive credit for.

How do I transfer
my credits to another user?
If you wish to transfer credits to another registered user in NVTREC, click the
“Transfer Credits” link located in the sidebar and select the number of PCs you
wish to transfer from the certificate that you choose. Once you initiate the transaction,
the receiving user must accept the transfer of credits before the transaction is
completed. Once the transaction is completed, each user’s credit balance will immediately
reflect the transaction.
